About my ministry

2008 & 2009 Diamond Award SUNRISE Nominee

Robert was introduced to the Lord in 1974, while serving in the United States Navy, stationed in Alameda, California. Shortly thereafter Robert walked the aisle at a small Baptist church in Alameda. If it had not been for one of the Lords’ servants, the seed of Christianity may have never been planted. As it turned out, this was the first step in learning to serve the Lord and responding to His call upon Robert’s life. After being released from military service in 1977, Robert went home to New Jersey and rarely went to church. In 1991, Robert relocated to Georgia from New Jersey, and once again by the invite of someone, Robert started to attend a small Baptist church in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Some 20 years after the seed was planted, Robert called that one person who planted the seed and spoke to him. Robert’s question was, “That day I walked the aisle in Alameda did I accept the Lord as my personal Lord and Savior?” Really knowing the answer to that question before he even asked Robert was told that all he did that day was to dedicate his life to the Lord. Many questions in Robert’s life started to receive answers, after finding the answer to this one. Robert was back on the road to following Jesus. Now, some 21 years after walking the aisle in Alameda, California, Robert really came to know the Lord as his personal Lord and Savior.

Since that night in April 1995, many things have happened to Robert—all of which was the Lord guiding his life. Hearing and responding to the Lord’s calling into ministry was something Robert had never expected. But within six months of accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, Robert heard and answered the calling and entered the ministry to sing the Lord’s praises. It was not long before Robert gained exposure by opening for some of today’s best-known gospel groups.

God has taken Robert over many very bumpy roads that left Robert with a stronger faith each time. Early in 2004, Robert fell ill with throat and sinus problems which lingered for a full year. From March 2005 to August 2005, Robert endured four throat procedures and a sinus procedure.

Robert prayed for God’s guidance and will and it was at this time that God lead Robert to a voice coach who has helped Robert gain the strength in his voice needed to sing. His range expanded from a baritone to a second tenor.

Robert, strong and steady in health again, was about to go through the hardest time of his life in 2007. In February 2007, Robert was informed that he had prostate cancer. After surgery in March, Robert developed complications from surgery and was rushed back to the hospital. Two blood clots had passed through his heart in the early morning of March 31st, 2007 and partially collapsed his right lung. Doctors told Robert that it would take about three years before he would have all his air back. Less then two months later with less air, Robert was singing again-- just allowing God to lead as he always did. In 2007 Robert was told by the doctors’ three times that he should have died. Not giving up, Robert moved on in service.

In 2008 Robert was invited to sing at major Southern Gospel Promotions. Sill praying for God’s will to be done in his life Robert has been writing new songs through God’s inspiring word and working on gathering songs for a new project that will include songs by Rodney Griffin of Greater Vision, a few older traditional hymns and songs Robert has written. Through the blessings of our Lord, Robert has gained recognition from peers and supporters alike. In 2008, Robert was nominated for a few Southern Gospel Music Awards, and his first charted song, “I’m Blessed”. 2009 starts off with Robert’s second charting song “I’m So Glad”. Robert looks to God to open the doors in support of this ministry. Robert prays that God will lead many to respond and open the doors of their church.
